Blur the license plate in your photo

Selling a car, posting a dashcam clip frame, or sharing a street photo? A readable number plate ties the vehicle — and often a person — to the shot. MetaMarshal lets you blur, pixelate or black out a plate permanently in your browser: the change is burned into the pixels, so it can't be reversed by downloading the file, and nothing is ever uploaded. It also strips the photo's metadata on the way out.

Nothing leaves your device to clean a photo — the only exception is the optional AI location estimate, which sends a downscaled copy off-device, and only after you tap to confirm.

How it works

1
Drop a photo above — it's processed entirely in your browser, so it never leaves your device.
2
Draw a region over the plate (and anything else — faces, VIN stickers, house numbers).
3
Choose blur, pixelate or a solid block, then confirm — the redaction is baked into the pixels, not an overlay.
4
Download the protected copy, which also has its metadata stripped, ready to list or post.

Frequently asked questions

No. The blur, pixelation or block is rendered permanently into the image and the file is re-encoded, so there's no hidden original layer to recover. What you download is exactly what everyone sees.
